Despite only being released today, the Google Pixel Watch has been in public knowledge for quite some time now thanks to Google itself purposely ‘leaking’ details of the wearable. Officially launched during an event earlier today, the Pixel Watch comes in a single size, which is a 41mm case with a domed, scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 5 crystal.

The Gorilla Glass 5 is meant to protect the wearable’s 1.2-inch AMOLED display, which has a peak brightness of 1000 nits and 320ppi. The display also supports always-on and automatic brightness.

Under the hood, the Pixel Watch is powered by an Exynos 9110 SoC paired with a Cortex M33 co-processor and 2GB of RAM. There’s also 32GB of storage and a 294mAh battery that Google claims can last up to 24 hours on a single charge, as well as be recharged up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes with its magnetic charging plate.

According to Google, the design of the Pixel Watch is made with comfort and durability in mind, being both water-resistant for up to 5ATM and scratch-resistant. In terms of health tracking, the wearable has a built-in ECG, activity, heart rate and sleep tracking. There’s also a unique life heart rate that will measure users’ vital signs by the second.

Given that Google also owns Fitbit, there are some features that utilise the Fitbit brand, including the aforementioned health tracking features. Those that buy the Pixel Watch will also be getting a six-month free trial of Fitbit Premium, as well as three-month YouTube Music Premium for free.

Running on Wear OS by Google (Wear OS 3.5), the wearable has a few app integrations too, including Adidas Running, MyFitnessPal, Strava, Spotify and Calm. You can also use Google Maps on the Pixel Watch for navigation.

The Pixel Watch is available for pre-order in selected countries (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Japan, Australia and Taiwan) starting today and is available in a WiFi/Bluetooth or LTE variant. The Bluetooth/WiFi variant is priced at USD349 or ~RM1623 and the LTE configuration is priced at USD399 or ~RM1856.  Unfortunately, like other Pixel devices, the Pixel Watch won’t be officially sold in Malaysia.
