We've all heard of the term 'lost in translation', but sometimes you may not even have someone around to translate for you. But with Google Translate, no problem! Google has been working on real-time transcription and now the feature is a reality. This new feature for Google Translate has begun to roll out for Android users on the Google Play Store.

The update may take some time to reach you as it seems to be rolled out to different users in batches. Once you have it, you'll be able to live transcribe eight different languages. They are English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Thai. To activate it, just tap on the 'Transcribe' button and the app will start listening to the targeted language and translate it.

For example, you can make it listen to someone talking to you in French or Spanish. The app can then automatically transcribe the conversation to the language of your choice, like English. Aside from that, you'll be able to adjust the text size of the resulting transcription or switch to a dark theme in the menu.

This new feature can be useful in a variety of scenarios. For instance, you can use it when you go travelling. Its use is still quite limited for now, but we expect to see more languages supported in the future. With that said, would you find this feature useful?
