Google raised YouTube Premium's subscription fee for 7 more countries

Google is at it again. The company has just raised the YouTube Premium subscription in seven countries - Argentina, Australia, Austria, Chile, Germany, Poland, and Turkey. Thankfully, Malaysia was spared but we also recently got one a few months ago so there was no need to.

Just like in the US, the price hike for the aforementioned countries is applied to all premium plans in YouTube and YouTube Music. This includes individual, family and student plans. Sources say all the YouTube subscribers in those countries have gotten an email notification and will take effect from 1 November 2023.

In Malaysia, only the YouTube Premium for Family's monthly fee got an increase. It used to be RM26.90 per month but it's now RM33.90 per month. You can add up to five members and each will only have to pay RM6.78 per month. On the other hand, the Individual and Student packages remain the same at RM17.90 and RM10.90 per month.

Many YouTube users are trying to avoid paying YouTube Premium (understandably so) so they resort to ad-blockers online. However, YouTube is taking action to counter it globally, doubling its effort by sending warnings to turn ad-blockers off.
