If you have been following the iPhone rumours lately, the upcoming iPhone 17 series' alleged design looks very similar to the Google Pixel series. We normally would tell our readers to take it with a pinch of salt, but Google just did it on another level.
In this short and cheeky (and kind of cringy) advertisement video, Google decided to respond to the rumours online by making fun of Apple. With the hashtag #BestPhonesForever (a Best Friends Forever reference) and a made-up podcast between an iPhone and a Pixel, remarking how the latter did the Night Sight first, followed by its own Night Mode. It also referenced the Magic Eraser and Cleanup, as well as having widgets.
Rumours of the new iPhone 17 series design started as early as January this year, and the leaks became more consistent (such as this and that news). Even the anticipated iPhone 17 Air may also look quite similar, with a single camera sensor in a long, pill-shaped protruding bump. However, the momentum has died down already, so there's that.
According to the source, this video is part of Google's ongoing ad series that personifies a Pixel and an iPhone as friends. Apparently, this isn’t even the most awkward one, as Google released many more cringeworthy entries in the past.
