Previously, we reported that Apple is delaying the release of iPadOS 16 to iron out several new iPad features, including ‘Stage Manager’. The new OS didn’t roll out together with iOS 16 last month and iPad users can anticipate getting an update straight to iPadOS 16.1 by the end of October.
According to reliable tipster on everything Apple, Mark Gurman, the tech giant is on track to release iPadOS 16.1 on the week of 24 October 2022. Taking to Twitter, the tech insider said that this release date is barring any new bugs or issues that may pop up.
Gurman further elaborated that Apple has historically held launches the week of its earning calls in October. Hence, the final week of October would be the most accurate prediction for the new iPadOS to be released.
However, no confirmation has been received from Apple just yet regarding the update, as back in August, the company only gave a vague timeframe of “this fall” for the rollout of iPadOS 16.1. Speaking of the new update, it is expected that the new Stage Manager feature to be rolled out to older iPad Pros, especially those running the A12x and A12z SoC and not just on M1-powered iPad Pros, though the former won’t have external display Stage Manager support.
