During the HONOR V30 series launch event, the V30 series smartphones aren’t the only products that came into the spotlight. Two other product lines were being announced too which are the HONOR MagicWatch 2 and the new version HONOR MagicBook. This roundup post is here to provide you a summary of the launch event so let’s find out what happened yesterday!

HONOR V30

The HONOR V30 series was announced with a HiSilicon Kirin 990 chipset that comes with an embedded 5G modem. Its 5G capability was tested at the event and it was fast as we expected. The V30 series is also going to hit the market with two variants which are V30 and V30 Pro. Both have the same display which is a 6.57-inch LCD of Full HD+ resolution. The series comes with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage as well. For battery, V30 packs a 4200mAh power cell, and V30 Pro has just 4100mAh being the pro variant (how can the Pro get a smaller battery??).

Both variants come with a triple-camera setup at the back. They share the main 40MP Sony IMX600 sensor with Dual OIS and laser AF, but the Pro variant has a faster F/1.6 lens compared to the F/1.8 lens on the V30. There’s another 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, F/2.4 lens, and OIS being shared by the V30 and V30 Pro as well.

The largest difference between V30 and V30 Pro would be the ultrawide camera. The Honor V30 Pro has a 12MP sensor that's better for video recording with its 16:9 ratio and F/2.2 lens. The regular V30, on the other hand, has an 8MP F/2.4 ultrawide camera with a conventional sensor. Both come with two front-facing cameras ( 32MP + 8MP ultrawide camera) for a selfie.

The device is coming to Malaysia soon with the price from 3299 Yuan (~RM1961) for HONOR V30 and 3899 Yuan (~RM2318) for the HONOR V30 Pro. V30 has the colour options of Black, White, Orange, and Blue while V30 Pro is not having the orange as an option. If you're looking for smartphones with Google Mobile Services, sadly V30 series doesn't have it.

HONOR MagicWatch 2

HONOR also unveiled its latest smartwatch series named MagicWatch 2 at the event. The smartwatch is coming with a Kirin A1 Chipset that allows it to last up to 14 days on a single charge. It is also said the watch can track up to 15 different activities including running, walking, hiking, cycling and more. For swimming, the watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters in depth.

The new version MagicBook sports an enhanced AMD Ryzen 7 3700U CPU, AMD Radeon RX Vega 10 GPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM (dual-channel), and a PCIe NVMe SSD with up to 512GB of storage. The laptop also features 4.8mm thin bezels with an improved 15.6-inch FullView display. It provides an impressive 87% screen-to-body ratio for your viewing pleasure. The video-calling camera has been re-designed as a hidden pop-up camera and the power button is having a built-in fingerprint scanner as well.

The laptop houses a 56Wh battery that can last up to almost 10 hours of usage. It can also be used to fast-charge your smartphone with a Type-C port. It is said an HONOR V30 can be charged to 70% in 30 minutes while charging the laptop itself will go up to 46% in 30 minutes as well using the same port.
