Overall, it is good to see HTC on the up and up, as it gives them the time to come up with patents such as this dual-screen slider smartphone patent. Rather than have a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard, the patent shows a device where a second screen slides out to fit with the existing screen and form one unified display.
While dual-screen slider smartphones are not new, many have failed because two screens resulted in a really thick and heavy device to lug about. So far, HTC seem to be blazing a new trail in design with their HTC One, so while this patent will probably be stashed away for the future, it does lead to brighter expectations for a well-designed dual screen slider from HTC in the not so far future.
