HUAWEI Watch GT 6 Pro - A great smartwatch, but for the select few

Besides the HUAWEI Watch GT 6, we also received the HUAWEI Watch GT 6 Pro. It combines premium materials, serious fitness tracking, and long battery life. That said, this is our verdict.

Right out of the box, the Watch GT 6 Pro looks and feels like a premium piece of hardware. The titanium body, sapphire glass, and ceramic back give it a sturdy yet elegant feel that you can wear at the gym or during a formal meeting. For your information, this watch is available in a 46 mm size.

We like how the chassis feels in our hands

The button and dial placement is quite simple

To start, this watch features a 1.47-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466×466 pixels. The brightness peaks at around 3000 nits. Like the Watch GT 6, the visibility under direct sunlight is excellent.

From experience, the touch response is smooth, and the overall feel is more like a luxury timepiece than a typical smartwatch. Despite its solid build, it remains comfortable to wear throughout the day.

It fits snuggly on our wrists too

The GT 6 Pro runs on HarmonyOS, which is smooth and well-optimised, but also quite dependent on the HUAWEI ecosystem. You can use it with any Android or iOS phone. But to get the most out of it, pairing it with a HUAWEI device or using the HUAWEI Health app gives better integration. Plus, notifications, call alerts, and basic music controls work fine.

Great visibility in low light area

Even better visibility under direct sunlight

The main highlights for the Watch GT 6 Pro lie with its advanced tracking features. You get heart rate monitoring, SpO? tracking, stress measurement, sleep tracking, skin temperature sensing, and more. The All-new TruSense System does a great job at providing accurate and consistent readings.

Moreover, the GPS performance is reliable, locking on quickly and staying accurate even in areas with a weak signal. Runners and cyclists will appreciate the detailed metrics, including new cycling power readings that usually require extra sensors. It also supports a wide range of sports modes, so whether you're swimming, hiking, or doing yoga, it has you covered.

Health-wise, the Sleep tracking feature is another strong point, offering detailed insights into deep, light, and REM sleep stages. The watch can also give recovery suggestions and stress management tips, which feel genuinely useful for active users.

Good tracking system, but could be overreliant on the internet connection

The strap is surprisingly comfortable

Notably, HUAWEI claims that the Watch GT 6 Pro delivers up to 21 days of battery on light usage. Based on our experience so far, it easily lasts between 10 and 14 days with regular workouts and notifications enabled. Even with heavy GPS tracking, you can expect several days of use before needing a charge.

Moreover, charging is done wirelessly with a magnetic puck. You can go from zero to full in about an hour, which is impressive considering how long it lasts. For anyone tired of charging a smartwatch every night, this is a major plus.

The sensors are very responsive and charges quick too

Sports-wise, we feel it's a great device

The lack of third-party app support can be felt

Besides that, the Watch GT 6 Pro feels more like a daily fitness companion than a smart device. It's great at giving you health insights, reminding you to move, and keeping you connected at a glance.

Like the Watch GT6, the interface is responsive, animations are smooth, and the watch faces are customisable enough to match your mood or outfit. On the other hand, for people focused on health and performance, the experience feels refined and reliable.

Like the Watch GT 6, you can only connect the app to one device at a time

Not a fan of the UI though

One of the biggest upgrades is the ECG (Electrocardiogram) feature, which enables real-time heart rhythm monitoring. It provides on-wrist results that can help detect irregularities such as atrial fibrillation and generate ECG reports for health tracking. This feature enhances the overall wellness experience, providing you with clinical-grade insights directly from their wrist.

The Watch GT 6 Pro also steps into pro-level sports, catering to advanced athletes with dedicated modes like golf and freediving up to 40 meters. The golf mode tracks swing speed, tempo, and form, making it a great training companion for serious players. Meanwhile, the freediving mode supports water resistance up to 40 meters, offering depth tracking and safety alerts for underwater enthusiasts.

Across the entire Watch GT 6 series, cycling and running performance have been refined. This smartwatch debuts the all-new Sunflower Positioning System, featuring industry-first 3D positioning fusion technology that delivers a 20% improvement over the previous generation. It also incorporates barometer-based scene detection along with adaptive fusion algorithms for more precise distance and elevation calculations.

As a result, users benefit from enhanced accuracy in movement trajectories, speeds, and navigation, helping prevent disorientation during outdoor or wilderness adventures. Compared to the gold standard professional GNSS Inertial Navigation System, the Sunflower Positioning System achieves an impressive 99% accuracy benchmark.

For cyclists, this watch features Cycling FTP (Functional Threshold Power) and pioneers industry's first Cycling Virtual Power, enabling accurate measurement of your power output directly on the smartwatch without relying on external power meters, bike computers, heart rate band etc.

To enhance usability further, this watch is equipped with automatic cycling detection, seamlessly recording ride data from the start and intelligently pauses at traffic lights for uninterrupted accuracy.

If you're already in the HUAWEI ecosystem, it's one of the best wearables you can get right now. So, RM1299 will look like a bargain.
