The HUAWEI Watch GT 6 serves as the brand's push into the premium fitness smartwatch space. It aims to offer strong health tracking, reliable GPS, and long battery life to improve your overall user experience.
In other words, it focuses on doing the basics really well, instead of overloading users with unnecessary features. Now that we have the HUAWEI Watch GT 6 (41mm) in our hands, does the watch live up to HUAWEI's claim? This is our verdict.

The leather strap gave it a classic and premium feel

The built is quite sturdy too

The dial and button are placed on the right side of the watch
In our opinion, the Watch GT 6 looks and feels premium right from the start. The body is stainless steel, and the finish feels sturdy without being too heavy. It comes in 46 mm and 41 mm sizes, which helps users choose a better fit depending on wrist size. In our case, we received the 41mm variant.
HUAWEI kept the design simple and practical. The buttons have a satisfying click, and the watch feels comfortable enough to wear all day. While it's not the thinnest smartwatch around, the extra thickness comes with the benefit of a larger battery.

We love how it looks in low light environment

Excellent visibility under direct sunlight
Even under direct sunlight, the 1.47-inch AMOLED screen is bright, sharp, and easy to read both indoors and outdoors. The bezels are slimmer than before, which gives the display a more modern look. So, that's a plus in our books. It's also worth noting that the leather strap circumference is quite small. Perhaps the 41mm variant is more suitable for ladies.
Personally, we feel the health tracking features are easily the GT 6's strongest area. It includes continuous heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, sleep analysis, skin temperature measurement, stress monitoring, and more. HUAWEI's updated TruSense technology helps improve accuracy for both health and sports tracking.
Based on our experience, the sensors performed reliably for daily activities, like sleep and heart rate monitoring. For workouts, the GPS accuracy was impressive, especially in tougher areas, like city streets or parks with dense trees. The dual-frequency GNSS support makes a difference in maintaining a strong signal lock.

It's also great for your sporting needs

It could be a bit iffy to find what you need though
Notably, the watch supports more than 100 sports modes. As you can expect, the data screens are customisable. That means you can view detailed summaries and even follow saved routes with turn-by-turn guidance. There is also wrist-based cycling power estimation, which works fine for casual cyclists, even if it cannot match the precision of professional sensors.
However, not everything is perfect. The heart rate sensor can sometimes misread rapid spikes during interval training. The automatic workout detection also reacts slowly at times, starting the recording after the user has already begun moving.

The sensor could "lag" at times, but we could tolerate the minor hiccup

The battery life for this watch is amazing
Honestly, we feel the battery life is the watch's main highlight. HUAWEI claims that it could last between 10 and 14 days on a single charge. Based on our experience so far, the battery life remains solid even after a long period of time. With heavy use such as GPS workouts, constant health tracking, and always-on display, it still manages about a week. That is far better than most smartwatches in the same class.
Charging-wise, it takes around 90 minutes using the magnetic dock. Our only small complaint? The dock still uses a USB-A connector instead of the more common USB-C. It is a minor issue, but worth mentioning since most new devices have already moved on.

We are not really fond of the USB-A connector

You can only connect to one device at a time while using the app

Unfortunately, some features are locked behind a paywall
Moreover, the GT 6 runs on HUAWEI's proprietary system, paired with the HUAWEI Health app. The app offers plenty of data and insights. However, the UI can feel cluttered and unintuitive at times. We noticed that some metrics and detailed summaries are buried under extra menus instead of being easily accessible.
On the watch itself, you can receive notifications, take phone calls, and reply with quick responses. The third-party app support is limited, and some features, like contactless payments or advanced mapping, may not work depending on your region and phone brand. But if you plan to use this watch in Malaysia, it should not be a problem.

We are probably oversized for the leather strap
For RM999, we feel that it's the best value for your money. But, if you are looking for a similar watch with the same specs or better, the Apple Watch SE 3 (RM1049) and Amazfit T-Rex 3 (RM1099) are good alternatives.
