After the trade ban happens, HUAWEI has been working hard on developing the HarmonyOS as the company is not allowed to utilize the Google Mobile Services (GMS) anymore. Today, the good news has come with the company finally announcing the launch date for the beta version of the OS for mobile phone application developers.

This morning, President of Huawei’s consumer business software department Wang Chenlu has announced on Weibo that an event will be held on 16 December in Beijing to release the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile phone developer beta version. It is mentioned that partners and developers are welcomed to join the event.

It is nice to see that the company has come this far with the in-house OS. Although it still might be a long time for the stable version of the OS to roll out, at least some progress has been made. Not just for smartphones, it was reported earlier that the company will be releasing a smartwatch with the OS soon.
