We know sometimes it's not easy to remember passwords and sometimes it's also not good to have the same passwords across your accounts. Despite that, many people still put in lousy passwords such as "123456" which is still the most common one.

NordPass, the website that did the previous 2020 most common (and worst) passwords is back again and the list didn't really change much. Looking at Malaysia, the top spot is still the same "123456" with 316,610 counts followed by "123456789" in second place at 101,532 only. There are a couple of new passwords such as "hotmail123" which takes a day to crack whereas "sayang" is on number 9 which takes less than a second to unlock.

If compared globally, most countries are more or less the same with "123456", "123456789" and "12345" as the top 3 most used passwords. The NordPass researchers also did a risk index in a map format to show which country has the highest to lowest risks. Interestingly, Malaysia is labelled as one of the average password leaks per capita with 32,715,734 and 1.011 respectively.
