The Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad today gave an update regarding the PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia programme, revealing that a total of 97,635 applications have been approved. During her speech at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) today, Noraini said that all of the approved applications were from phase one of the programme.

Previously, we reported that nearly 60,000 out of 100,000 applications under phase one of the programme were approved and that the remaining applications are subject to a review process. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the new figure mentioned by the Higher Education Minister includes appeal cases that have since been approved.

According to Bernama, Noraini asserted that out of the 97,635 applicants, 21,633 were from Sabah. Moreover, 3,748 of those applications are in the process of getting their PerantiSiswa tablet package delivered to them.

The Higher Education Minister further asserted that the application for the programme was open since April 2021. As for the screening process, it started on 29 August 2022, with approval being given in stages and the process of handing over the devices to be done within a three-month period.

She also urged students of higher learning from B40 families to send their applications under phase two if they haven’t done so yet. The due date for the second phase is 30 September 2022.

During the event in UMS today, Noraini also handed over the PerantiSiswa tablet package to 100 students from the B40 group studying at the university. The PerantiSiswa package includes a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 LTE, a detachable keyboard (Smart Keyboard Trio 500), a stylus pen, and a black tablet cover (Galaxy Tab A8 Book Cover).
