After the unofficial unveiling on TENAA, Honor officially announced their take on the Huawei P9, the Honor 8. It shares some design elements – the dual camera module and all metal build -  but not the price; it will start from only CNY 1,999 (~RM 1196).

The Honor 8 comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p touchscreen, plus a dual-12 MP camera setup on the back, with f/2.2 aperture. The front camera meanwhile is an 8 MP unit with f/2.4 aperture. The phone has up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. So far, on paper the Honor 8 is pretty much identical to the P9.

What different is the processor - in this case a Kirin 950. It has a 3000mAh battery, and 4G LTE support. It charges through USB Type C, and it comes with EMUI 4.1 which is based on Android 6.0 (which is the same as Huawei P9). The honor 8 comes in Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink and Sapphire Blue colours – pretty extensive.

The phone will be available from July 19, with prices starting from CNY 1999 (~RM 1196) for the 3GB/32GB combo, CNY 2299 (~RM 1376) For the 4GB/32GB combo and  finally the 4GB/64GB will have a sticker price of CNY 2499 (~RM 1495) We will update when this model will come to Malaysia, right here on TechNave.
