Want to capture stunning photos of flowing water with a silky smooth or Silky Water effect but don't have that feature on your phone? Most of the time, if you want to take silky water shots, you will also need a tripod and ND (Neutral Density) filters, especially if you snap these shots during the day.
However, if you can download the Galaxy Enhance-X app from the Samsung Galaxy Store, not only can you snap a Silky Water shot but also do so without a tripod or ND filter. Read on to find out How to Snap Silky Water Effects on Your Samsung Phone Without a Tripod or ND Filter.
Here's How to snap Silky Water Effects on Your Samsung Phone Without a Tripod or ND Filter:
- Record a video (at least 20 seconds) of the flowing water
- Open the recorded video using the Galaxy Enhance-X app
- Apply the "Long Exposure" function to the video
- Save the edited video and open it in your Samsung Gallery
- Use the "Quick Crop" feature to extract a still image from the video, as shown in the examples below

This method is ideal for achieving silky water effects and blurry motion in your photos. While a tripod will provide even better results, you can still get impressive shots by holding your phone steady (hold your breath to keep your hands steady). Keep in mind that this technique may not be as effective for capturing light trails though.
We managed to snap a silky water shot just fine without any tripod or ND filters with the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra above. But, if you have phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 that can be their own tripods, you can see a significant increase in quality using this method.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is thinner, lighter and stronger than before... and it has a 50MP camera upgrade!
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is also thinner, lighter and stronger than before
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is obviously the more powerful camera phone with 200MP quad rear cameras
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 recently debuted in Malaysia from RM4999 and come with a number of Galaxy AI features designed to take advantage of their unique form factor like Interpreter and more.
While the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra still hasn't received this Galaxy AI update just yet, it is obviously the more powerful camera phone with a 200MP primary camera with OIS, 50MP AF (F3.4, 5x, 0.7µm) telephoto, 10MP AF (F2.4, 3x, 1.12µm), Ultra-Wide 12MP and a Laser AF sensor. The price is also rather Ultra from RM6299, but you do get more than you pay for.
