Huawei Kirin 980 processor receives recognition at IFA 2018

So here are some updates from the IFA 2018 event, besides Huawei introducing the new Kirin 980 chipset, they also won other awards that include the Huawei AI Cube, an AI-powered speaker and 4G router and of course, the aforementioned Kirin 980 which won 7 awards.

To recap, the Kirin 980 chipset is the world's first 7nm chipset and it features a new MALI-G76 GPU, a CAT 21 5G Modem (up to 1.4Gbps), a dual Neural Processing Unit, Cortex-A76 and more. Comparing with its predecessor, its Image Signal Processor performs 46% better and 178% more efficient in power. You can read up our coverage on what went down during their presentation here.

With this, many prominent websites have given a thumbs up to Huawei, such as Android Authority, Digital Trends, Expert Reviews, T3, Android Headlines, GadgetMatch, TechSpot presented the Kirin 980 with a "Best of IFA 2018" award for its combination of high performance and energy efficiency, as well as an improvement over the Kirin 970 for being "so fast, can probably slow down time" and "rethinks architecture in the name of efficiency.”

Meanwhile, the AI Cube also won "Best Smart Speaker" (TechRadar), “Best of IFA 2018” (Talk Android, Gear Diary & GadgetMatch), for its ability to “answer questions, control smart home devices, play music and access a library of over 50,000 skills.” The new P20 Pro leather model also got "Best of IFA 2018" from GadgetMatch for its simplicity and texture.
