Nowadays, most flagship smartphones have a rear camera with high zoom capabilities. This is typically a telephoto camera or a periscope variant with higher optical zoom. For the Huawei Mate 80 Pro+, it could have two telephoto cameras.
Dual telephoto
According to Digital Chat Station, an upcoming "high-end new phone" will feature two telephoto cameras. Both will use 50MP sensors, but one is for mid-range zoom and the other supports long-range zooms. This phone will also feature a 50MP 1/1.28-inch LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) sensor. It's suggested that this phone is the Huawei Mate 80 Pro+.
As a reminder, this isn't the first Huawei phone to feature a dual telephoto setup. The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra also features this camera system, which has two camera lenses sharing a 1/1.28-inch camera sensor and a periscope mechanism. However, that system snaps mid-range and long-range shots at 50MP and 12.5MP resolution, respectively. Whether the Huawei Mate 80 Pro+ uses the same camera system or an improved one, however, remains unconfirmed.
New Kirin chipset
Besides that, it has been reported that the Huawei Mate 80 series will feature a new Kirin 9030 chipset. Another interesting report claims that the Mate 80 series will have 20GB or 24GB of RAM. Whether this includes virtual RAM wasn't mentioned.
What else could this phone offer in new innovations? We don't know yet, but we're expecting the same the Mate 80 series to launch in November 2025, so more news should surface soon. Until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
