Huawei Mate X3 release - Kunlun display & SD 8+ Gen 1 chipset, price starting from ~RM8419

Besides the Huawei P60 series, Huawei also unveiled the Mate X3 foldable smartphone in China. Compared to its predecessor, it has a new updated design that looks almost like a regular smartphone. Here's what you should know about.

Weighing 239g, Huawei claimed that the Mate X3 is lighter and thinner than most standard smartphones. It has a new dual-spin droplet hinge mechanism and adopts Kunlun glass protection on the exterior display, as well as an ultra-impact flexible interior display. On top of that, the displays support IPX8 water resistance and eliminate fingerprint smudges.

Like the Huawei P60 series, the Mate X3 also has Beidou satellite support. Users of this phone can also send messages and location information in remote locations, and surprisingly for a thin device, it has a 4800mAh battery pack that supports 66W fast charging, 50W wireless charging and 7.5W wireless reverse charging.

In terms of the camera, there is a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50MP (main) sensor + 13MP (ultrawide) lens + 12MP (periscope) lens. As usual, the camera software uses the XMAGE computing system to produce the best image quality possible. On top of that, the Mate X3 features a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage type.

While there's no news about the Huawei Mate X3 launch for the Malaysia market, the company did reveal the prices for each model:

  • 256GB - 12999 Yuan (~RM8419)
  • 512GB - 13999 Yuan (~RM9066)
  • 1TB - 15999 Yuan (~RM10362)
