Despite the trade sanctions implemented by the US, Huawei is still carrying its development further for their next-generation devices. It is said that the next 5nm Kirin processor will be launched on time without any delay. Therefore, the highly anticipated Mate 40 series is expected to be launched according to the original schedule as well.

According to Mobile Chip Master from Weibo, Huawei will announce its latest 5nm Kirin processor in October. Other than that, the tipster has also mentioned that 8 million units of Mate 40 devices will be distributed in the fourth quarter. Earlier, the rumour came out saying that the Mate 40 series will be using either the Kirin 1000 or Kirin 1020 chipset, but it doesn't really matter as the chip will eventually be based on a 5nm process. It is also expected that the flagship chipset will be adopting Cortex A77 or A78 architecture.

Besides the Mate 40 series, the production of the P50 series might have already started as well according to the general manager of Huawei’s P series products Wang Yonggang. The general manager mentioned that the P series products take at least 18 months from concept design to product launch, so the P50 series should be in production now if the devices are still going to be launched in next year's March. Like the Mate 40 series, the P50 series will also be coming with the 5nm processors.
