On top of overheating issues, it seems like the Apple iPhone 15 Pro can’t catch a break as some BMW owners have reported that their iPhones NFC chip got broken when using their vehicle’s built-in wireless charging pad. This results in an “Could Not Set Up Apple Pay” error and which upon reboot, could not do anything related with the NFC chip afterwards which means the NFC chip got damaged.

According to these users they not only got a replacement iPhone with the excuse that the “NFC module was bad”, but the replacement unit also had the same issue. These users also noted that there was no issue with their iPhone 14 Pro with the BMW wireless charging pad but Apple have yet to come out with any official statement about this so do take this with a pinch of salt.

We’d like to err on the side of caution here, so if you’re a BMW driver with a built-in wireless charging pad, we’d recommend that you avoid using it with your Apple iPhone 15 Pro for now.
