Indonesia is planning to ban the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) following the latter’s decision to allow users to post adult content on the platform. Indonesia’s Communications Minister Budi Arie Setiadi has already sent a warning letter to X related to the matter.

According to Reuters, Budi stressed that if X doesn’t comply with a regulation barring adult content in the country, it will shut down the social media platform. For reference, in Indonesia, there’s an electronic information and transaction (ITE) law which prohibits adult content.

The law carries a 6-year jail sentence if someone spreads pornographic content. X owner, Elon Musk, has yet to respond to the warning letter.

Similarly, Malaysia’s Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has also sought clarification from X on the policy change, saying that such a change is unacceptable and against Malaysia’s laws. Well, we just have to wait to see what actions both countries will take against X, so until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more trending tech news such as this.
