If you recall, there was a rumour last week claiming that Instagram could launch subscriptions soon. From the leaked image, you could see that the company was also working on a badge system. Well, it looks like the latter is ready to roll out.

Instagram's paid badges are now officially available for Instagram content creators in the US. You must be of age (18-years-old) and need at least 10k followers to be eligible. Once approved, users can purchase badges during the live streams of their favourite creators. These badges will be available for USD1 (~RM4.18), USD2 (~RM8.36), and USD5 (~RM20.89). For more details, check the official website.

Besides paid badges, Instagram is also working on a new verification system. According to Matt Navarra, the company now requires users to confirm their identity with video selfies. For those worried about security, Instagram has allegedly promised not to collect biometric data. This method could cut down on the number of fake profiles and spam accounts.

Instagram is working on monetising its platform and also helping its users monetise. Would you want to pay to watch creators on Instagram? Share your opinion in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for updates on Instagram features.
