Previously, we reported on the e-Aduan@JPJ app by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) which received a total of 245 traffic violation reports during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri period. Now, it looks like the app has been quite popular with Malaysians, to the point that JPJ is mulling giving appreciation to those that have used it to channel information of road offences.

As reported by national news agency Bernama, the matter has been discussed by JPJ at the department level so as to encourage the public to help in detecting traffic violations on the road. JPJ deputy director-general (management) M. Janagarajan said that since its introduction, over 1000 reports were received nationwide.

Hence, JPJ intends to reward members of the public who channel information via the app to show the department’s appreciation. However, the form of reward being discussed was not revealed by the JPJ deputy director-general.

Launched back in April and a week prior to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the app is part of the JPJ Info app available on the Apple App Store as well as the Google Play Store. With it, the public can report on traffic offences that they have witnessed, whereby users can upload photos and videos as proof of such offences.

Moreover, the e-Aduan@JPJ app uses your device’s GPS signal to automatically detect where the offence happened. Speaking of the effectiveness of the app, M. Janagarajan said that JPJ intends for cooperation of the community to be the department’s ‘eyes’ on the road.
