The Minister of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM), Tan Sri Annuar Musa has reiterated that the tablets under the PerantiSiswa programme will be of high quality. Furthermore, Annuar also stressed that the manufacturer of the devices is a well-known and trusted brand in the market.

Taking to his official Facebook account yesterday, the K-KOMM Minister also revealed why the programme opted to provide tablets to eligible students instead of laptops. This is because the government do not want the programme to be wasteful by distributing low-quality devices that the students could not benefit from.

Annuar stressed that it is better to provide high-quality tablets than low-quality laptops with the budget allocated to the PerantiSiswa programme. In fact, the K-KOMM Minister said that the programme will ensure the distribution of 350,000 high-quality tablets to eligible students.

The PerantiSiswa Keluarga Malaysia programme is a package specifically crafted for tertiary-level education students from the B40 group which will benefit around 400,000 students. Bernama previously reported that K-KOMM has received over 27,000 applications in just under seven hours.

The tablets will be distributed starting from mid-June and must be returned by its recipients upon graduation. As for the tablets themselves, no specific details has been given just yet, though Annuar Musa did share the minimum specs for the device which we recently reported on here.
