Last month, the Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) launched the Pakej Perpaduan prepaid mobile internet plan. Now, one month after the launch, KKD Minister Fahmi Fadzil revealed that the RM5 per month SIM card has been purchased by a total of 31,092 people.

Announced through a Facebook post, Fahmi hoped that the initiative will be able to alleviate the burden of vulnerable groups and allow them to access the internet at a cheap price. As a recap, the Pakej Perpaduan prepaid mobile plan offers 30GB of data at 3Mbps speed with a validity period of 180 days at just RM30.

Replacing the previous Pakej Remaja, Pakej Perpaduan is available for youths below 30 years old, senior citizens, veterans of uniformed bodies, persons with disabilities and the B40. The package is currently offered by local telco companies, including CelcomDigi, Maxis, U Mobile, Unifi Mobile, Yes, OneXOX, Mcalls and TuneTalk.

Speaking of which, KKD is also set to announce further details on the fixed broadband version of Pakej Perpaduan today. Priced at RM69 per month at 30Mbps speed, make sure to stay tuned to TechNave for the latest development on this.
