KKD Minister: Malaysia and Singapore may annually hold a cyber security round table

The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) has revealed that Malaysia and Singapore may hold a round table on cyber security every year. Its Minister, Fahmi Fadzil said that both countries are currently discussing the need for the round table in order to boost cyber security.

According to Bernama, Fahmi said that the matter will be discussed with his Singapore counterpart Josephine Teo during the latter’s visit to Malaysia this Saturday (4 February 2023). Moreover, the bilateral meeting would also cover matters in the memorandum of understanding (MoUs) signed between Malaysia and Singapore on Monday (30 January 2023). 

Among the matters that will be discussed include cyber security, personal data protection and digital economy. Besides that, closer cooperation between agencies of both nations to jointly overcome cyber security problems will also be explored. Speaking of cyber security, Fahmi also previously announced that the government is in the midst of setting up the Malaysian Cyber Security Commission.
