Kuo: iPhone 15 series to get USB-C, but only the Pro models will have higher-speed data transfer

After Apple confirmed that it will comply with the EU’s USB-C regulations, we may be seeing the port being standard across next year’s iPhone 15 series, instead of the Lightning port. However, it looks like not all of the upcoming iPhone’s USB-C ports would be equal, as Apple is likely to put higher-speed data transfer on the iPhone 15 Pro series.

This is according to reliable tipster and tech insider Ming-Chi Kuo, who claimed that only the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would sport USB-C ports with faster transfer speeds. As for the vanilla iPhone 15 models, they would still sport USB 2.0 speeds that are the same as the Lightning port.

Taking to Twitter, Kuo said that the iPhone 15 Pro models will likely have a USB-C port that “improve markedly” than the rest of the iPhone 15 series. He further elaborated that the Pro models will utilise “at least” USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3.

Hence, if users want their iPhones to have fast wired data transfer, then they have no option but opt for the Pro models next year. Of course, these are all mere speculation as nothing is confirmed as of yet by Apple, so do take this information with a grain of salt.
