LG has been popping up in the news recently, as it gears up for the launch of its new LG Velvet smartphone. This is going to be a mid-range device with 5G connectivity and is expected to be released on 7 May 2020 in South Korea. However, the specs of the device have already been revealed ahead of the launch.

In our previous article on the phone, we already confirmed that the LG Velvet will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 5G chipset. Now, it's been confirmed that it will also have 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a 4300 mAh battery. If 128GB isn't enough storage for you, it's also going to support microSD cards with up to 2TB of storage capacity.

According to ZDNet, the LG Velvet is also going to sport a 6.8-inch OLED display and stereo speakers. That's not unusual, as a lot of LG's smartphones have an emphasis on multimedia performance. For example, the LG V-series smartphones come with dedicated DAC inside, allowing them to support even audiophile-class headphones.

Besides that, the camera specs of the new smartphone were revealed. It's going to be a triple rear camera setup combining a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide lens, and 5MP depth sensor. On the front is the 16MP selfie camera, set under a U-shaped notch.

I find the LG Velvet an interesting mid-range option. If nothing else, at least it sports a design that's slightly different from what we normally see. We'll be keeping an eye on this one and will let you know once (or if) it gets a local release date. Until then, stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news updates.
