It's been over two months since LG launched its new premium mid-range smartphone, but so far it has been released in only selected countries. That may be changing soon if the latest leak is any indication. Specifically, the LG Velvet was recently found on Google Play Console sporting rather different tech specs.
According to Gizchina, this could be a variant of the LG Velvet that's more affordable (the original is ~RM3178). This is because the Google Play Console leak lists a device featuring the MediaTek MT6883 chipset and 6GB of RAM. The switch to the slightly weaker Dimensity 800 chipset and 6GB of RAM should help with reducing the cost. Speaking of which, the variant sold in the US and Europe features the Snapdragon 845 chipset and was priced at USD 599 (~RM2545), which is cheaper than the South Korean model with the Snapdragon 765 chipset. Bizarre...

We're not sure if anything else will be cut out to reduce the price, but the possibility is there. In the original model, the phone has a triple-camera at the back, consisting of a 48MP main sensor, 8MP ultrawide lens, and 5MP depth sensor, while the front packs a 16MP camera. LG could swap the 16MP front camera for an 8MP one, which could further reduce the cost of the phone.
Of course, this is just our speculation so do take it with a pinch of salt. Having said that, would you be keen on the LG Velvet if the price was more reasonable? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
