CES 2022 is happening next week, but some companies have begun teasing the technology they plan to reveal. One of them is LG, which recently unveiled its first gaming laptop and some interesting displays. As usual, LG has plenty of experimental technology to show, including a transparent display.

Yesterday, LG announced that it will be introducing some transparent OLED screens at CES 2022. Mind you, it's more accurate to call them semi-transparent displays. The prototype has some slight transparency to it, so it can 'overlay' different visuals or images over objects behind the display. Use cases include product show windows and art galleries.

By the way, the prototype is a 55-inch 1080p OLED panel with 40% transparency. LG plans to have several showcase models at CES to demonstrate potential use cases. The first one is the OLED Shelf, which uses two of the panels stacked above each other. Another one is the Show Window with a 2x2 panel layout that can be used as a product show window.

To be honest, the average consumer probably has no real use for a transparent display. But what do you think, would you be interested in getting one for your home? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news from CES 2022.
