Latest OnePlus patent shows phone with cover for rear camera and hints at under-screen front camera

Remember the OnePlus Concept One, the one with the disappearing rear cameras? Well, it seems OnePlus is looking into building other smartphones with a similar concept. The company's latest patent that was found in the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) shows a smartphone with cameras that can hide.

As you can see from the design, the circular camera design here looks like the one on the OnePlus 7T. In this case, there seem to be more cameras packed there into different configurations. Unlike the dimming glass concept used for the Concept one, this one uses a moving cover that can presumably be rotated into different positions to cover the cameras when needed. How the cover will operate, whether manually or automatically, was not detailed.

Interestingly enough, the patent design also shows the front of the device, where no notch or punch-hole can be seen. The screen-to-body ratio is insane here, with it barely even having a chin! In addition, there's a possibility that OnePlus wants to go with under-screen selfie cameras with this kind of design since there were no signs of a pop-up camera either.

This type of innovative design is going to take a while to become an actual product, assuming OnePlus even manages to make it one. In other words, don't count on seeing it in 2020.
