Leaked Snapdragon 895 chipset benchmark shows lower performance than A14 Bionic

Earlier this week, it was rumoured that Samsung will help manufacture the Snapdragon 895 chipset. This could mean that development is complete and Qualcomm is ready for mass production. In fact, sources claim that the chipset has already been benchmarked.

According to FrontTron (via Wccftech), a source from Weibo has found the Snapdragon 895 chipset (model number SM8450) benchmarked on Geekbench. It allegedly scored 1250 points in the single-core test and 4000 points in the multi-core test. Note that this makes it weaker than the A14 Bionic chip, which scored 1596 and 4027 points in the same tests. This shows that Apple's chip has superior single-core performance, but the multi-core performance is on par.

The source also points out that Samsung's upcoming Exynos 2200 chipset will outperform the Snapdragon 895 in GPU performance. Specifically, the AMD mRDNA2 GPU is expected to perform much better than the Adreno 750 GPU in high-performance mode. Mind you, Samsung and Qualcomm could still be tweaking their new chipsets, so the retail chips could have better performance.

As usual, we suggest taking these claims with a grain of salt. The source provided no proof or screenshot of the benchmarks, so it's hard to take their word for it. We'll keep an eye out for more updates on this, so stay tuned to TechNave.com.
