
Recently, we reported on the launch of Malaysia’s first national electric vehicle (EV), the Proton e.MAS 7. Now, Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad revealed that Malaysia is in its final preparation to make the EV the official ASEAN vehicle.
According to Bernama, Nik Nazmi said that the EV would be the official car for ASEAN leaders when attending state events as Malaysia becomes the ASEAN Chairmanship next year. He added that the e.MAS 7 will be used at a certain level, but other levels will also be using mostly EVs of other brands.

He clarified that while the e.MAS 7 will be the official vehicle, other EVs will be used at various levels. Nik Nazmi said that there are levels for heads of state, heads of government, ministers, officials and so on, depending on specific requests and needs.
