Getting malware on your phone can be detrimental, especially when you go into any suspicious links or install them. In a continuing effort to fight against scams, Maybank has announced a new security feature on the MAE app to counter those.
According to Maybank, the new security feature can automatically detect malware or risky permission settings upon launching the app. With this, the feature can protect any user from unauthorised transactions. As of 11 August 2024, all MAE app users will get this new feature as the update is being rolled out as we speak.
Maybank also put out a notice that enabling developer or accessibility mode may put your device at risk. And of course, this goes without saying but it's also always best to avoid installing and using malicious apps from unknown sources. Malware often comes in the form of APK installation so be careful before executing that.
Previously, Maybank has been actively rolling out measures to keep their customers safe from possible scams. One of them is to introduce a 12-hour cool-down period for increased funds transfer limit. On the other hand, the bank also introduced a new feature that lets you add up to five user accesses for the convenience of managing profiles.
