As you know, MediaTek recently launched its new Dimensity 9000 chipset. Based on the 4nm process, this new flagship chipset promises to deliver much greater performance. Now, reliable sources have claimed that another Dimensity chipset is on the way.

According to Digital Chat Station, MediaTek is working on a chipset that might be called the Dimensity 7000. The company has allegedly begun testing this 5nm chipset, which is expected to output upper mid-range performance. Moreover, it's designed using the same ARM v9 architecture that the Dimensity 9000 chipset is based on.

There isn't any solid info about this chipset yet. However, the tipster claimed that the chipset's performance is between the Snapdragon 870 and 888 chipsets. Allegedly, it even managed a score of more than 75k on AnTuTu. In terms of product positioning, it's supposed to be the successor of the Dimensity 1200 chipset.

So, when would the Dimensity 7000 be released? Well, the Dimensity 1200 was unveiled in January 2021. If MediaTek sticks to this schedule, we can expect its successor to launch by January 2022.
