Earlier, MediaTek has unveiled two of its 6nm-based chipsets that are the Dimesity 1200 and 1100. Now, it's time for the manufacturer to announce its mid-range chipsets for this year. According to a source, there will be two new 5G mid-range chipsets coming and they might be based on an older 10 or 12mm process.

The upcoming mid-range chipsets are expected to slot into the Dimensity 800 and 700 lines. It is said that the focus of these new chips will be on power efficiency, sub-6GHz 5G connectivity plus multimedia and gaming performance. The mentioned 10/12mm process is to be supplied by TSMC.

For the launch schedule, the chipset that goes under the Dimesity 700 line is expected to be announced somewhere between April and June. Meanwhile, the other one could arrive later at MWC 2021 which is scheduled to take place from 28 June 28 to 1 July. Last year, it was rumoured that a Dimensity 600 series chip is also scheduled to be launched in Q3 2021 but nothing has been heard since then.
