In mid-April, MediaTek announced that it would launch a new flagship chipset on 10 May 2023. But the Dimensity 9200+ isn't the only one that the company has up its sleeve this month. Now, we also have news of the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset.

Yesterday, MediaTek launched the mid-range Dimensity 7050 via its official website. This is a new 6nm chipset with an octa-core CPU, which consists of two Cortex-A78 cores (2.6GHz) and six Cortex-A55 cores (2GHz). It also sports a Mali-G68 MC4, plus support for LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Note that these used to be flagship-class features, but have now been added to mid-range chipsets like this one.

In terms of features, the Dimensity 7050 will support 120Hz refresh rate screens, 200MP camera sensors, Wi-Fi 6, and more. At a glance, you can see that the Dimensity 7050 is more of an upper mid-range model. While the CPU isn't as powerful as a 2023 flagship, it should be capable of comfortably playing high-end 3D games at medium settings.

However, we won't know for sure until we test a phone with the Dimensity 7050. Fortunately, the realme 11 series launching soon will allegedly feature this chipset. If you're interested, don't forget to look out for our launch report on 10 May 2023.
