Mediatek reveals new Helio X25 chipset, and Meizu Pro 6 will be the first to use it

As of 16 March 2016, Mediatek has unveiled a new processor for the high-end market known as the Helio X25. The Helio X25 is a successsor to the Helio X20 clocking at a higher frequency, and Meizu Pro 6 will be the first smartphone to adapt the new chipset.

The Helio X25 has a tri-cluster architecture based on 10 cores, the performance core, Cortex A72 cores will be clocked at 2.3GHz to 2.5GHz while the other two clusters remain the same with 4 x Cortex A53 cores, the GPU also gets an upgrade from 780MHz to 850MHz. Besides that, Helio X25 will also include Cat.6 LTE connectivity, 4G+ with download speed up to 300Mbps, and Pump Express 3.0 fast charging technology which can charge the device up to 75% in just 20 minutes. Even though the hardware are improved, it's said that the power consumption will not increase.

In addition, Meizu Vice President also remarked that with the new chipset, Meizu will make sure and the Pro 6 will outperform and “kill iPhone 7”. A bold statement, but he said Meizu fans will be grateful that it will be worth the wait.
