For PC gaming enthusiasts, early September is going to be exciting since Nvidia has been teasing a big reveal happening then. But the GeForce RTX 3080 that many are expecting may not be the only product launched. Recently, sources have found that Nvidia partner Micron had unwittingly confirmed the existence of the RTX 3090.

According to VideoCardz, Micron has been developing GDDR6X memory for use in Nvidia's upcoming Ampere GPUs and has revealed some details in a technical briefing. In the document, one of the tables showed some tech specs for the RTX 3090. It's expected to have 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM, a data rate of 21Gb/s, and bandwidth of around 1TB/s. In other words, it's going to be a VERY powerful GPU.

The document also contains a bar chart that compares the power requirements of the different types of memory. While GDDR6X isn't the best there, it's close to the power efficiency of HBM2 (High-Bandwidth Memory 2), which is said to be more expensive to manufacture. But knowing Nvidia, the company won't be transferring these savings to the consumers, so don't expect this GPU to be relatively cheaper.

So there you have it - the RTX 3090 is a sure thing this time around. It will be exciting to see if this GPU will allow more games to run on 4K 60 FPS, but will you buy what's probably overkill for most people? What resolution do you prefer to run your games on?
