Last week, rumours claimed that Nvidia could be launching a high-end Ampere GPU in September 2020. But now the launch date could be closer than expected. Nvidia has officially posted a teaser with the hashtag "UltimateCountDown" and it's believed that this is referring to the GeForce RTX 3080 GPU.

Considering that the Tweet was posted by the official Nvidia GeForce account, the speculation has merits. The Twitter account's banner was also updated, with a tagline that reads "21 days, 21 years". In case you're wondering, the first GeForce-branded GPU was launched in 1999. With that in mind, we're almost certain that the teaser is related to an Nvidia GPU. Whether it's for the RTX 3080 remains to be seen.

Nvidia launching at the end of August 2020 would put the pressure on AMD, which is expected to launch its RDNA2 GPUs sometime in September 2020. By then, Nvidia's latest flagship would be officially available on the market. And this flagship is going to be an insane one too. It's said that the new RTX 3080 Ti would have a whopping 24GB of VRAM, 50% more VRAM than Big Navi's rumoured 16GB.

All signs point to this being the big Nvidia Ampere launch, but what are your thoughts on it? Also, is 24GB of VRAM overkill? Let us know what you think on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for further updates.
