If you look at chipsets for the smartphone market, it's more or less a two-horse race between Qualcomm and MediaTek. Both companies are expected to launch their latest flagship mobile chipset later this month. Best of all, we're already getting details for the latter's new Dimensity 9300.

Some specs for the Dimensity 9300 were recently leaked by Digital Chat Station. According to the leaker, MediaTek's new flagship chipset would have CPU clock speeds of up to 3.25Hz for the main Cortex-X4 CPU core that will power the most demanding mobile games or apps. The chipset will also feature three more Cortex-X4 CPU cores and four Cortex-A720 CPU cores at unconfirmed clock speeds. Finally, its GPU will be the 12-core Immortalis G720 MC12.

Back in April, it was rumoured that the MediaTek was working on a chipset to rival the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, and the company might have succeeded. While no benchmark scores were shared, the leaker suggested that the Dimensity 9300 could be better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in Antutu version 10. That's because the former allegedly beat the latter in CPU and GPU performance, albeit only by a small margin in the second category.

There are no benchmark screenshots as evidence to back these claims, so take these claims with a grain of salt. Having said that, Digital Chat Station usually provides accurate news, so we can assume he has solid insider news. As such, it's safe to say that most of these specs are correct.
