Previously, we reported that Motorola will be holding a launch event in China on 15 December 2022 for the release of its upcoming flagship, the Moto X40. Now, more details have emerged regarding the smartphone, both from Motorola itself as well as from a benchmark listing of the device spotted on Geekbench.

Taking to its official Weibo account, Motorola announced that the Moto X40 is powered by the latest and greatest chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This makes the upcoming flagship one of the first smartphones in the world to feature the processor.

The Weibo post also corroborated a listing of the device spotted on Geekbench 5, which was first spotted by MySmartPrice. In the listing, the Moto X40 has the model number XT2301-5 and scored a 1471 Single-Core Score as well as a 4683 Multi-Core Score.

Moreover, the listing also showed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2’s prowess, whereby the octa-core chipset on Moto X4 has a prime core clocked at 3.18GHz, four cores clocked at 2.80GHz, with the other 3 cores running at 2.02GHz. Besides that, the listing also shows that the device has 12GB of RAM and runs on Android 13 OS.

Of course, this could simply be one variant of the Moto X40, with other configurations potentially having less or more RAM. Well, we just have to wait until 15 December 2022 to find out the full specs sheet of the device.
