With the recent leak claiming that Motorola will be launching a new foldable phone later this year, it looks like the company is not resting on its laurels and is continuing to compete and innovate. In fact, another leak alleged that Motorola is even developing a smartphone with a rollable display.

Codenamed 'Felix', the leak by 91mobiles claimed that the project is still in its infancy but will differ from other similar rollable devices currently being developed by other tech companies. Rather than expanding horizontally, Felix’s display will allegedly expand vertically to make the smartphone taller.

Furthermore, in its smartphone form, Felix will have about 33 percent of its display wrapped around a spindle. The spindle may be placed at the bottom and the wrapped display facing backwards.

The rollable display may also use a motor to expand and roll inwards. However, do take this information with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Besides, as the project is allegedly in its infancy stage, the form factor and technology may change significantly when it is ready for retail. Speaking of which, this Motorola rollable phone may took years to actually be ready for launch.

Nevertheless, the concept is pretty neat and something refreshing compared to the cookie-cutter smartphone designs we have in the market currently. What do you guys think?
