My honor View 10 experience in Paris!

If you've read our honor View10 review before, it was done by my colleague, Jim from our Chinese site so I've never used it before. So just so you know, this is not another review but rather, just my experience of using the device when TechNave was invited to the Modern Combat Versus honor International Series in Paris. Without further ado, here are the five features that I utilized and enjoyed during my stay!

1) No heavy or bulky DSLR required

Obviously, the dual rear camera is one of the highlights and this really helps a lot for the fact that I don't need to carry a heavy DSLR around my neck all day long. The View10 is compact and it's dual rear camera is a 20MP + 16MP combo with PDFA, along with a 13MP front camera. The aperture on these sensors are quite big too, using f/1.8 for the back and f/1.7 for the camera, allowing me to capture more light but sometimes, I do have to tone down the light sensitivity for the correct contrast.

The View10 can also detect different kind sceneries for your preference so it was really helpful to take several quick snaps without having to do the settings. But if you want, there's a Pro Mode and allows you to take RAW file format pictures too so that's quite impressive. Overall, I'm happy with the pictures I've taken so check them out below!

Night scenery, c'est magnifique!

2) Great fun even without a translator

Next, travelling overseas may be fun and all but until you reach there, you become the foreigner that doesn't speak their local language. Thankfully, the View10 comes with a Translator app ready at your disposal and I must say, it helped me so much during my solo adventure around Paris for ordering food, asking for directions and many others.

It's recommended to pre-download the language pack before you land in their region first so that you can use it offline. Downloading is quite easy and there are currently 44 offline languages available. Moreover, there are four translator tools for you to get by - speaking, typing, taking pictures (then the software will translate the words) and conversation mode where it listens to more than one person speaking and translates them on the spot.

The translator main menu page (left), then on the right side there's a shortcut phrase for you to use to save time

3) What power bank?

I suppose bringing a power bank is one of the important aspects when you go overseas, while I did bring mine, I didn't use it at all because the View10's battery performance is seriously durable. Take the battery chart below for example, I used the View10 phone mainly as a hotspot device (yes, I used two phones), a GPS navigator, taking pictures and occasionally entertaining myself with games when taking a break. For more than 10 hours, the battery percentage drops from 100% to 19% only and that's most impressive.

I also didn't need to charge it overnight because of the SuperCharge technology. Before going out in the morning, I just needed to plug in and let it charge for an hour or so, the fact that honor claimed it can charge up 50% within 30 minutes (more or less) is no joke and this is very convenient.

Here's proof that the battery is awesome

4) Good connectivity even overseas

While having local maps is still important, having a digital navigating tool is also useful. The View10 connectivity didn't prove to be an issue even after inserting one of their local SIM cards, called Orange (anyone used it before?), even when I'm travelling underground on the train, the signal is still pretty strong (although this can be argued that their Internet signal strength is great), with the same level of performance for WhatsApp voice calling between France and Malaysia.

Well, bottom line is - the View10 connection didn't let me down for a single moment. I can't imagine the horror that I have to face if it dies randomly since I spent in the city alone most of the time.

In my opinion, it's better to walk around instead of taking the tour bus, more freedom to take pictures

5) Game Suite - Do not disturb, please kthxbye

You may be wondering why is the Game Suite feature even on this list and what does it have to do with travelling. Let me tell you then, sometimes at the end of the day, I like to crash on my bed and call it a day and play my games...or when I'm having lunch...or breakfast (lol).

As an Asian, it's not uncommon for parents to constantly call up or message their children to ask how are they doing, ESPECIALLY if he or she is alone in another country. So what is the connection here? The point is that Game Suite offers uninterrupted gaming mode when you use it, so when you're relaxing playing your games, no incoming calls nor notifications will disturb your alone-time. Besides that, it also offers 'lock navigation keys' so that you won't accidentally go out of the game after pressing the home button.

The games that kept me company lol

So that was my experience using the View10 in Paris, it really gave me a good impression and if case you haven't heard - it's now RM1899 and it's too good to pass by this new price slash from honor Malaysia. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for more geeky articles at TechNave.com.
