Previously, we shared that 17 million MyKad details were allegedly sold on the Dark Web. Now, the authorities have debunked the claim, stressing that no data leaks have transpired.
Taking to its official Facebook page, the National Registration Department (JPN) said that after investigating the claim, it found that no data leaks or any suspicious transactions had taken place. Moreover, JPN asserted that no cases similar to what was claimed have also transpired involving the department’s systems.
JPN added that it had contacted both the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) so that both could also investigate the matter from their end. Accordingly, JPN assured that it will always ensure the safety and integrity of Malaysians’ data remain safe and secure under its care.
