It smells completely like broke in here. Yes, the Apple’s brand new Airpods was announced last night (to my surprise) with a bunch of brand new features like a Qi compatible wireless charging case and hands-free Siri. And no, it is not called the Apple Airpods 2 like we thought it would.

The new Apple Airpods has tech specs that include Apple’s brand new H1 chip. This chip supports Bluetooth 5.0 and claims use power more efficiently. You get an extra hour of phone calls as talk time rating has gone up by 50%. Besides that, the chip also improves connectivity between devices, a.k.a switching the Airpods between your Macbook and your phone should be faster now.

There’s no need to double tap on your Airpods to wake your assistant any longer as you can simply mention Siri and she will immediately respond. Apple has also upgraded made sure that the Airpods cases, both with wireless and non-wireless charging, now has a total battery life of 24 hours.

Though there were claims that the new Airpods were supposed to be released with a brand new coating to make the Airpods less slippers, better bass and more colours. As for the first two rumours, that is yet to be seen until we are able to get our hands on it. I am a bit bummed that the Airpods only came out in white instead of having more colour variants though...

Unfortunately there is no Malaysia release date just yet as chats with the Apple Store support mentions that the Airpods are currently "pending agency/government review". However, the Malaysia price for the item is listed on the Apple Malaysia website as of right nowIt will cost you RM699 for a pair of Airpods with a normal charging case, RM 879 for a pair of Airpods with a wireless charging case and RM439 for just the wireless case itself.
