If you were hoping that Elon Musk was joking about paying for verification, we have bad news. Now that Musk owns Twitter, all his plans will likely take priority. As such, it's now confirmed that Twitter would cost a monthly subscription fee for verification marks.

According to Reuters, Twitter updated the iOS version of its mobile app yesterday. The update comes with a few new features to Twitter Blue, including the previously mentioned USD7.99 (~RM38) per month for Twitter verification. While many would be annoyed at the change, all Twitter users can now get verified if they're willing to pay for it. The new change is currently limited to Twitter users in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Besides that, those who pay for a monthly Twitter Blue subscription would get half the ads that free users see and longer video posts. You'll also get priority ranking in replies, mentions, and searches. The first two are self-explanatory, while the third feature means your content gets more eyeballs. For example, your tweets could show up first when other users search for specific keywords or hashtags.

As mentioned, these changes don't affect Malaysians or Android users yet. But what do you think, are these features you are willing to pay for? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
