A few days ago, it was rumoured that Apple would be launching new MacBooks powered by an Apple M1X chip later this year. But just like last year, the MacBooks won't be the only ones with a new chip. Sources claim that the Mac Mini will also get the upgrade.
According to Jon Prosser, the Mac Mini is not only getting the Apple M1X chip but also a complete redesign. Based on the renders shared, the new model will be much smaller, yet has a better lineup of I/O ports. As you can see, there are four USB-C (compatible with Thunderbolt 3), two USB-A, one HDMI, and one Ethernet port. The power button and magnetic power connector can also be found next to the ports.
Interestingly, the top of the device is expected to come with a plexiglass layer over the aluminium chassis. In terms of specs, it's said that the new Mac Mini would have the same hardware like the upcoming MacBook Pro. Specifically, the Apple M1X chip with its 10-core CPU and 16-core or 32-core GPU, as well as up to 64GB of RAM.
Prosser has a pretty good track record when it comes to Apple leaks, but it's always good to take news like these with a grain of salt. Having said that, would you upgrade to this new Mac Mini if the details above are true? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
