Reliable tipster regarding everything Apple, Ming-Chi Kuo is at it again yesterday by spilling the beans on the upcoming iPhone 14 series. This time around, Kuo is giving insight into the upcoming smartphones’ front cameras which would have a considerable upgrade from its current iteration.

Taking to his Twitter account, Kuo claimed that the front camera of all four new iPhone 14 models may be getting an upgrade to AF (autofocus). Furthermore, it will also have a lower aperture at about f/1.9.

Both features are a considerable upgrade to the current iPhone 13 lineup’s front camera which only have FF (fixed-focus) and a f/2.2 aperture. Kuo further explained that a lower aperture provides better and more natural depth-of-field.

As for AF, it can potentially enhance the focus effect for video. This includes video on FaceTime, video calls, live streaming and so on.

Kuo also claimed that the iPhone 14 series would be released in the second half of 2022. Based on the usual Apple release trend, it is likely that we will be seeing new iPhones this September.

However, do take these information with a grain of salt. While Kuo has been consistently right in the past, nothing is confirmed regarding the matter as of yet.
