If you recall, Niantic showed off how you could play AR games in 'real life' using Microsoft hardware. Some would have thought that you'd need something like a HoloLens to play it, but now it's clear that Niantic plans to build its own AR glasses.
Earlier today, Niantic CEO John Hanke uploaded a teaser for a pair of Niantic-branded AR glasses. It's clearly an in-house project, which would mean that the company can better adjust the hardware to match its games. As you may know, Niantic develops AR games, so the AR glasses could be adapted to multiple games.
Exciting to see the progress we’re making to enable new kinds of devices that leverage our platform... pic.twitter.com/yYglk4q89G

The teaser image doesn't show us much, but it seems to come with built-in speakers. You can also vaguely see what could be a small projector over the lens. It's essentially the component that will display the game to the user. However, we'll have to wait for more info from Niantic to know more about its AR glasses.
Honestly, I still think that walking around with half your vision occupied by a virtual game is a bad idea. But what do you think about this? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below! Also, stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
