The OPPO X is the closest thing to a tablet but isn't quite one

If there's one thing that's making a notable comeback in 2021, it would have to be tablets. We've seen brands like Xiaomi and realme launch tablets this year, and we could see more next year. OPPO could launch one in 2022.

While OPPO did reveal the OPPO X 2021 earlier this year (check out our first impressions video), it's not exactly a tablet and OPPO doesn't plan to launch it. According to Sina Technology News (via GSMArena), OPPO Vice President Liu Bo announced that the company will be expanding into tablets. He also confirmed that the first OPPO tablet is expected to launch in the first half of 2022.

The rumour of an OPPO tablet first appeared last month. A reliable source speculated that a ColorOS-powered OPPO tablet was on the way and that it had a design that's similar to the Huawei MatePad Pro. This suggests that OPPO's tablet could be a high-end model. Besides the tablet, there will also be "diversified smartphone products", which probably refers to foldable or rollable devices.
